About us
We are Raymond and Monica Schuurman, currently living in Zwolle, proud parents of three adult children, and we are starting a bed and breakfast in San Gemignano, Bagni di Lucca. After a relatively short search, we found a beautiful Palazzo that offers many possibilities to realize our dream. Modafi is a combination of the initials of our children's names, Moïse, Daan, and Finn, so they are always there, a little bit.
Planning & scheduling
Our goal is to build the B&B, consisting of 3 to 5 apartments/studios, in the coming months and to have it completed around May 2025, before the summer holiday season begins. There will be a swimming pool with an outdoor bar, pizza oven, and barbecue facilities. Authentic Italian with a modern touch. We aim to spend hours dining at beautifully set tables overlooking the pool and the mountains.
Moreover, the property offers so much peace and space that it's also very suitable as a retreat, training, career coaching, or for writers or artists in residence. We also get inquiries about facilities for cyclists and hikers. What could be better than returning to the B&B after a challenging mountain stage, where an aperitif followed by a pasta meal awaits you? There's also a space to hose down your bike and store it safely for the next day. And perhaps we'll even wash your sports kit for you, but we'll have to talk about that another time... ;-)
In short, plenty of plans, now just the execution!
